HAPPY SNOWY SATURDAY

It is a cool, snowy Saturday and I have cabin fever. What to do? It is snowing so much in Calgary that the driving range at the golf course is closed. So much for going back to work a month early. There is so much snow from Kelowna to Calgary, that we are stuck in BC until further notice.....in other words...........it is stinking winter again and no travel advised.........GROWL!!

I guess it is going to be a weekend of movies and popcorn. Watched Bridget Jones' Diary I last night and will watch Bridget Jones' Diary II tonight. Went out for Chinese food for dinner last night.......it was yummie!!! I made cinnamon buns to kill some time. The boys are getting very pudgy but enjoying the sugar laced delights.

So sad :o( the Olympics are coming to a close. So sad for the Canadian Men's Hockey team......eliminated first game. Good news for the Canadian Athletes.......they have won the most amount of medals for Canada at this Olympics. Canada Rocks!!!

I planted sunflower and several different kinds of flower seeds in peat pots and WOW you should see them.........all sprouted and growing towards the light. "Spring" hurry and get here so the flowers and veggies can come out and play.

Cherie, I made your Bannock recipe. OH was it DELICIOUS!! Stuart makes the best strawberry jam, so we had bannock and strawberry jam.........TO DIE FOR!!! Thanks for the recipe.

IT'S THE WEEKEND

I am excited, it is the weekend. And the cold weather is over........thank goodness!!

I'm going back to work a month early. I am SOOOOOO EXCITED!!! Being a Domestic Diva is okay, but I would rather be at work. I am going to go work at the driving range at the golf course for the month of March, and weather permitting, I will be back at the golf course clubhouse April 1st.That is only "41 days" away. And when I get this tummy fixed........I am going to go golfing (it has been 2 years since I last whacked a golf ball).

I am excited as it is almost Car Racing season again. Only "50 more days" and Champ Car Open Wheel series starts........April 9th. I am going to a live race in Edmonton, Alberta, in July. I can't wait!!!!!!

I am excited watching the Olympics......especially the Women's and Men's hockey. On Monday the Women's team will be playing for a gold metal. Go Canada Go!! Remember to watch and cheer on the Women!! In 10 day the Olympics will be over and regular NHL hockey will return......yippee!!!

Answer to Thursday's joke: It jumped to the wrong conclusions.

BRRRRR IT'S WINTER

It is the middle of February........feeling like spring, but not for long. Today, Thursday, February 16, 2006 winter has arrived............YUCK O!!!

In Kelowna tonight it is dropping to -16. In Calgary it is -28. In Saskatoon it is dropping to -31 with a wind chill..making it -45. And Winnipeg it is -30 with a wind chill.......making it -45. Think I'll crawl under a blanket and hide. A better idea........I am gonna go snuggle with a warm body.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY--PART II

I HATE VALENTINE'S DAY!!! I hate the pressure from the media and friends when you are single. I hate the commercialism.

That was me before.........this is me now............A REFORMED VALENTINE'S DAY HATER. I love Valentine's Day!!! Guess how that happened? Thought you would never ask.

Last February 14th, 2005, was a normal day. I was at the restaurant working and trying to ignore it was Valentine's Day. It was busy as couples wandered into the restaurant to have a romantic meal together. Staff, management and customers were coming into the restaurant with chocolates for each one of us working that night.

I was sad. My Prince lives 8 hours away and we could not be together due to the distance.

You will never guess what happened that night? I was busy working in the smoking section of the restaurant, and all of a sudden........The PRINCE walks in. I had called him on my coffee break to see what was going on in his world that day. He never mentioned he was driving through rain and snow storms to be with me.

I ALMOST had a heart attack!!!!!! What a surprise!!!!!! When he showed up at the restaurant, he handed me a napkin.......saying it was dirty and would I give him a new one..

The napkin wasn't dirty, it had a message on it......."Will you be my Valentine? It had two choices...Yes or No. I checked the YES box. That was the beginning of an incredible Valentine's Day.

I got off work at 11 pm. We ate a late dinner and the presents from My Prince lasted for hours. I have NEVER EVER had a man pamper me so much. He put so much thought and effort into us being together for Valentine's Day. No commercialism, real LOVE and giving.

At the end of the night....ok late into the morning....I made a confession....I LOVE Valentine's Day. What an amazing way to be introduced to Valentine's Day!!!

This year it is my turn to spoil The Prince. I am making bbq ribs, steamed crab, garlic shrimp, stuffed potaotes, cheesie broccoli and cauliflower. For dessert I am making chocolate covered strawberries, and brownies.

I bought The Prince a stuffed animal with long stretched out arms that says......I love you this much. The stuffed animal is in a basket filled with Hersey Hugs and Kisses chocolates. I hope this is what a girl is supposed to do for Valentine's Day for her boy? I have never done this before.

Joke of the day: What do frog's say after telling a joke?

Question of the day? Should Vegetarians eat animal crackers?

P.S. This year, Valentine's Day was amazing. The meal I cooked turned out well. The Prince spoiled and charmed me with flowers, chocolates, make-up, a pink stuffed frog, and a dancing frog singing.."I'm just a love machine." Oh I love frogs and princes'!!!

Do remember that love is an action word. Love and chocolates are a daily thing to do for one another....not just for a day.

GUESS WHAT???

GOOD NEWS....WILLY SAYS AN EARLY SPRING
HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY
Wiarton Willy
In Canada the name of the groundhog that is used to predict the length of winter is Wiarton Willy. Wiarton Willy is a very rare albino groundhog with white hair and pink eyes and can not see very well. The Legend of Wiarton Willy.......In the deep dark ages of antiquity (1956 or there about) the ancient rituals of Candlemas were replaced by the celebrations of Williemas. A secret emissary of three wise groundhogs had broken hibernation to bring the glad tidings to the small community of Oliphant. There in a shack on the shores of Lake Huron they found Mac McKenzie anticipating a message of great import.
The three wise groundhogs named Grundoon, Muldoon, and Sand Dune told Mac of the birth of a white groundhog who would for ever alter the world of weather prognostication. He would be recognized by his white coat and pink eyes and his unfailing ability to correctly predict the remaining course of each winter. He would emerge each February 2nd and pronounce his predictions only to those who spoke the ancient tongue of Groundhogese.
With a joyful heart and the help of revelling friends Mac went forth and spread the great news. Thus from the simple message delivered on Williemas eve to the grateful residents of Oliphant has grown the true meaning of winter...."Party On" ~ Copyright 1999 Wiarton Willie
Guess what? Guess what? Oops I got side tracked with the groundhog story. Back to the question: guess what?
Today was a day I was dreading. I had an appointment at the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic. I was growly and stressed waiting for that appointed time.
The Oncologist and assistant doctors at the clinic tend to be moody and often give me a lecture about the treatment plan I have chosen to control my breast cancer.
I chose no chemo and no radiation. I chose to have a mastectomy and reconstruction. I chose to take an estrogen blocking drug for 5 years. And I chose to have a yearly mammogram for life. I prayed and prayed for God's direction for my life and my health plan. I heard God promise me a miracle. I heard him say to me I will heal you. So I faithfully chose to get well God's way instead of the Western Medical way.
Last year a lump was discovered on the opposite breast. I had it surgically removed and analyzed. God again performed a miracle. The lump was non-cancerous!!!
I forgot to tell you a part of my cancer story. When I discovered a tumor in my right breast, I went to a doctor. The first doctor I saw said to me:"There is no hope for you. You have a huge tumor and it is cancerous." I said: "There is always hope. You wait, I will prove you wrong Doctor." Then I was sent to a Radiologist to have a mammogram. The Radiologist developed the film, came in and told me I had breast cancer, and had no hope. NO HOPE.............I do not believe that for a moment(was my reply).
Today, God's miracle was confirmed again. I got a new doctor at the cancer clinic today. She was a fabulous woman and a good doctor. She did an examination on me. Then she said this to me:"Sheila, you have been cancer free for 2 years. You don't need to be at the cancer clinic anymore. We are discharging you from the clinic. You are no longer considered a high risk for more cancer. Rather you are a low risk and in remission."
Did you read that? I am healed. Healed by the Great Physician...THE LORD. I am shouting the good news loudly. I am calling my family and friends. I am going to have a glass of wine to celebrate the good news. WOO HOO. And I am praising HIM.

This is my discharge papers...............I am free.............cancer free. I am going to frame the paper and hang it up on the wall in my office. I am considering it my: Degree of Breast Health.

Thanks for listening to my story. Ladies always do a breast self examination, monthly. It will save your life. And finally a good fitting bra is a MUST. For information on bra fitting, go to: http://empyr.blogspot.com/

Answer the yesterday's joke: Hop in.

Joke of the day:

Question of the day?

Can you learn to read from a "Reading for Dummies" book?

LOVE NEVER FAILS

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

Lets make a difference in our families and communities this month. I challenge you and myself..........perhaps random acts of kindness. Then let us post all the good things that are happening and all of the random acts of kindness/love we have participated in and have witnessed.

Answer to yesterday's joke: Leap year

Joke of the day:

What do you say to a hitch-hiking frog?

Question of the day?
